Our History

On June 29, 1981, five couples met in the home of Bud and Ayn Lamke to begin a series of Bible studies, fulfilling the dreams of a number of people who wanted to start a new Christian Church in Weatherford Oklahoma. As what soon became, Southwestern Christian Church (SCC), began to grow and outgrow living rooms and rented spaces; 7.9 acres of land on Lyle Road was purchased for the future home of SCC. On March 1, 1987 SCC moved into it’s last and biggest temporary space at 2121 East Main. On August 11, 2002 there was a special dedication service held as our current building was completed and we have since called 2525 Lyle Road home.

SCC is an independent Christian church.  We are a Christ-focused collection of believers who seek to live out our faith every day as God has called us to live. We are a church with worship opportunities for people of all ages with a mix of both traditional and modern style worship service. We believe in God's infallible word.  Every week our pastor brings a Biblically supported message.

Southwestern Christian Church is also a church that is not only a place for believers to get together for weekly worship and fellowship, but we are a church that wholeheartedly believes the church is to be the hands and feet of Christ through Community Outreach and both local and international missions.
